Traditional leadership courses are great for teaching people how to become leaders and how to behave when they are, but this is often rather like adding extra layers of learning. We have 400,000 years of leadership evolution pre-installed in our biology we need to tap into this and use this resource. Our ancestors have overcome extreme hardships and problems to survive. “We are all exceptional leaders …….or we wouldn’t be here!”
When an individual can tap into their own inner strength they are less likely to be swayed by the beliefs and actions of others and are able to lead from their innate inner wisdom. That is what true leadership is all about.
So, how do we deliver our programme and why is this a different approach?
The answer is we partner up with horses!
“Why horses?” The answer is simply this:
- Horses are experts in non-verbal communication.
(Did you know 93% of human communication is non-verbal? And, if you’ve ever seen the film The Horse Whisperer, read the book or even seen a horse whisperer in action, you will know that horses understand and respond to the merest signal.)
- Horses do not have a personal agenda. They don’t care about our power, position, title, degree or salary.
- Horses give us the chance to learn what is profoundly difficult to learn from our human relationships
- Horses are guaranteed to give instant accurate feedback.
- Horses are non-judgemental.
- Horses show congruent leadership
- Horses are honest mirrors
(We’re not suggesting you look like a horse, rather that they accurately mirror those inner feelings that you may be unaware of..!)
As herd animals horses are sensitive to the slightest inconsistency in the environment – it is this ability that reflects back to us any inconsistencies in our behaviour and enables us to move deeper into our own authenticity – our own Natural Capital.
“Do I have to ride?” The answer is no, you don’t. In fact, no horse experience is needed at all. No riding is involved. Our horses interact with you as the participant and co-facilitator in the activities which are done on the ground.

Groups: 6-10 humans
Facilitators: 2 per group
(50% of the programme is spent in the classroom, 50% with the horses).
